Down the Shaft

 

The theory of verticality
in permanent alignment
with the force of gravity
made our fall from the summit
a crashing inevitability
and since the rocks below
provide no cushion
our destruction was a given
from the moment we ascended
this slippery peak
of a purely physical relationship
