In our stunned state
when the walls
came tumbling down
we were for once
in that moment
one nation
A united people
on that tragic day
And in our naivete
we actually believed
our rarefied national unity
post 9/11
would survive
the pointless partisan blasts
that serve only to divide
and distract
us tainted peasants
from who the real enemy is
