This would be the line

The perfect place in time

The flash ignition
of an arranged romance
our well meant friends
meticulously set in motion

All I had to do
was stick to the script

and deliver the performance
at the proper moment
that was teed up for me
as my assigned love
waited patiently
for a serious relationship
that would never launch
simply because

I was not ready

It's doubtful I ever will be

given my lifelong allergy

to commitment

and adult responsibilities

Call me a selfish child

if you must assign blame

but I'm happy in my sandbox
