Strings Pull Both Ways

 

Deep in the midst
of the latest edition of combat politics
I got the the sinking suspicion
that we were all being played..

Perhaps these invisible strings
tugging at our opinions
over nonsensical things
serve only as a distraction
from our real enemy..

Look up and see
exactly who is yanking us around...

Maybe it's high time
for we weary marionettes
to start tugging back 

Herd Finality

 

Decibel levels rolling on explode..

Ear drums commence to implode..

When the sheer volume
of mass projected deceptions
crushes the tragically fragile filters
we self designed for our protection
the flood of lies will infiltrate
and control our every action...

We are now indoctrinated...

Freed from the burden of thought..

Which deep down
is what we've always wanted

Off the Tarnished Path

 

Through the nuclear haze
of our dystopian garden
the flowers grow radioactive..

Bees lay dead all around..

Seems they didn't get the memo

not to trust the new organic

that sprout from the glowing ground..

Guess they could not suppress 

their destined to be fatal desperation

that landed them in a no win situation..

Fortunately we as a species

fancy ourselves as more evolved..

We know the scarecrow is hollow
but we feel compelled to follow
cause he speaks with zero doubt
that he knows the way out..

A real sleight of hand show..

Nowhere over the rainbow

Oh how we rolled
crude but effectively
in the low tech
20th Century...

Feuds were much more personal..

Tone and voice inflection
well honed weapons..

Dagger words slashed with precision..

None of this text acronym crap..

No dueling cartoon emoji wars..

Emotions spilled all too real
back in the bygone day
when we cavemen held sway..

Our senses monitors were set to Feel..

Human connection was a big deal...

Internal antennas measured
nuanced subtleties..

Though often not very accurately..

Bitter fall out from misinterpretation 

So maybe modern blip speak is the best way..

Less chance for fractured communications..

So we Boomer dinosaurs best quickly adapt
to this alien domain we find so strange

lest we go the way of the VCR

and rotary phones

Back Dropping

Just because I was wrong
on certain issues of my day
based on 21st Century philosophies
applied through the prism of history
does NOT necessarily make me
the monster you wanna assign me to be...

Gotta temper subjective judgements
within the context of my times...

So stop poking us ghosts
that offend your woke sensibilities 
lest we rise from our rumbling graves
and start haunting
your current hypocrisies
that will be future fodder inspection
for archeological outrage dissections

Falling Inevitable

 

Out of respect
and a sense
of historical context
we stuck to the plan... 

The ending was a chapter
none of us did expect
when this all began...

Though in retrospect
it was quite obvious
all along
we were married
to an antiquated concept
that in the end
was never meant to last

Tumbling Down

 

Cruising down the highway...

Speed limit exceeded...

Much to your dismay
you see a cop car

in the mirror rear view...

What do you do?

A driver who is prudent
slows down

to comply with the law
while a motorist who rolls arrogant
speeds up...

When arrested
they offer up the defense
that everyone was doing it...

Screams about the injustice
for getting busted
doing 125
in a 65 mph zone..

The judge of course rejects
this false equivalency
because after all 
the law is the law...

So tread lightly my MAGA friends
when defending a reckless jaded man
Hell bent on crashing your movement 

History will not be kind

to all you partisan enablers

of a lame rationalization mind

Get off the cliff bound bus

while you still can

Stepping in Indifference

 

Take your emotional detachment
and clip it to my apathy... 

Let's join indifferent forces
and dance the dance 
of the we don't give a damn...

Screw this unforgiving light...

We creatures of perpetual night

Mambo in glorious shadows
that ask for neither commitment
nor useless judgements... 

Just us alone in this glorious bubble

Down the Meat Aisle

 

We carnivores
of an alleged sensitive bent
rip into barbecued flesh
glazed in selective ignorance..

Skimming past the cruelty
inflicted on the grilled carcass
we are currently devouring..

Our indignant vegan friends
who ride shotgun with angels
skewer our hypocrisy
with their anti meat arguments
as we respond...

"Pass the ketchup"..

Though deep down

in the clogged bowels

of our lost conscience

we know that everybody

from our whole predatory

dominant species

is destined to be

the tasty prey

for ravenous worms

feasting on our mortality...

Karma patiently rides a life cycle

Pissy People

 

Pity the existence
of the outrage magnet..

Awash in perpetual grievance
from affairs not their business..

Pin balling from offense to offense..

Cancel this.. Cancel that..

Boycott the whole woke planet..

Til there is nothing left
but fellow pissed of hypocrites·
now bored out of their narrow minds 

with only each other to protest
