Wearing Floaties

 

Like everything else
in my selective existence
the terrors of the day
can be compartmentalized
and washed away
with the soothing balm
of repetitive denials

Needless to say

it takes great effort
not to let the horrors

of the seeping truth
closing in on us all
penetrate my encasement
of happiness bubble wrap

You may smugly say

this false sense of security

will drown us all eventually

but with a little fake buoyancy 

it won't be today
