...and poor little Marco had to just sit there

Biting his tongue with glazed eyes

deep in the throes of mournful contemplation

at the whipping post that is Versailles

Scene of a previous historical humiliation

Today he tortures himself

on the wrong turn he made
when he joined this Circus of Lies

run by a demented clown he deeply despised

His going to the gallows expression
should serve us all as a life lesson

comes attached with consequence
