Tug of Casuaities

 

After yet another contentious
bloody mediation
between we sniping
conflicted forces
the only thing
we feisty combatants could agree on
was that these negotiations
were not only
an excercise in frustration
they increased our distrust
of those stubborn foes

who dare think differently

The war therefore continues

Battles will take their steep toll

Only after a mutual agony

tipping point has been reached

will we war weary sides reconvene

in a pride swallowing exercise

of give and take compromise

that will bring a lasting peace

(hopefully)

Too late, too late

for too many casualties

caught in the crossfire

of our shameful stubbornness
