Blissful Ignorance

 

I've known truth intimately 
from a varied variety
of levels and angles

I have molded reality
into the flexible commodity
required to accommodate
my always pliable 
narrowly slotted narrative

Truth is now always the enemy
of any self serving fictional story

My friends and family
less creatively enlightened
act all indignant and frightened
that I have opted to live in denial

I choose to mute them
and their persistent brand
of factual contradictions 
that run contrary
to my reassuring 
self serving narrative
as I hook into Fox News
for my daily ration
of contentious
us versus them opinions
that I will make my own
to social media regurgitate
on my phone
