Like a joke
seeking a punch line
the truth
which eludes
we finite performers
in this surreal circus
lies buried
beneath the grave reality
of our lurking mortality

Those who try to deny
our diminishing timeline
are in for a shock
when relentless time
runs out the clock
as the victorious bell
tolls mockingly
over their vanquished
soon to be gone 
unprepared carcasses
