Infected Us

 

The blips on the edge

of our known galaxy

began as a faint

cluster of satellite captured

mystery transmissions

Too far out to be any threat

to threaten our precious security

based on extensive expensive

expert analysis

Those in command

in their infinite wisdom

deemed this "Voodoo Science"

which they did not understand

boring as Hell

and not very cost efficient

Not when the money

could be best spent

on modern high tech munitions

to drop on a Third World Country

for a liberation mission

that makes great deflection television

So our satellite eyes

were turned off and closed shut

as part of the Bigger Better

Austerity Budget

In retrospect

this may have been a mistake

For the soul of our global village

was absconded
by the unexplained phenomenon
that dropped from the sky
while we were sleeping

Woke up as zombies

A mindless populace

Easily manipulated

by powers unseen

Is this all a bad dream
or our new forever slave reality?

Or maybe this is an upgrade?
