It's not a vengeful God
that I fear
with an old time
fire and brimstone storm
That tired old Supreme Being
checked out long ago
leaving us defects
to our own devices
Tis his self righteous
Earthly disciples
that terrify me most
that terrify me most
Awash in zealotry
and shameless hypocrisy
their sense of entitlement
is not only an embarrassment
it can be quite dangerous
when applied fanatically
in the Lord's name
