Every seduction
Every temptation
requires
a spark of lust
which ignites
into a glorious combustion
The consummation
of two beautiful
raging
out of control flames
Feasting on the oxygen
of two bodies
smashing together
Passionate collisions
Energy eventually spent
Embers glow
and slowly grow cold
You know where
this poem is going
So I'll state the obvious
regarding human relations
Love is not lust
Lust surely ain't love
They exist
on parallel spheres
Though occasionally
they do intersect
In and out though
It can be a discordant beat
To summarize:
Lust is a sprint
Love is more a marathon
Choose the race
you wish to participate in
I'll meet you
at the finish line
with an adult beverage
and a sedative
