Days of Brown

 

The shit storm came and went
exactly as forecast
but we remained behind
left with the daunting task
of disaster recovery

Doomsayers wrung their hands
as they always do
but we who turn the wheel
were left with consequence
that we stepped up to fix
because someone had to

Of course twas all a patch job

cause we had neither the training

nor required skill set

to truly exact lasting effects

on the systematic defects

institutionalized and codified

in the bureaucratic language

which rewards and protects

the process of chronic neglect 

Sometimes 

the doom and gloomers are right
