Here I go again
memory tripping
A common escape route
of my gray demographic
Driving through time zones
to nowhere in particular
calibrating radio knobs
for decent FM reception
seeking clear tune connection
And yet
all I got was a weird mix
of static and station overlap
that changed constantly
with each mile post traversed
as I drifted in and out
of antenna range
As audio chaotic as this
sound blender may have seemed
there was a random beauty
to this discordant symphony
and the required
knob turning patience
to participate in it
Today my vehicular
audio system
is satellite based
guaranteeing surround sound
Dolby Stereo perfection
no matter where I may be globally
I know this is digital progress
Blessed be the technology
of the ease of use 21st Century
but to tube and diode
based dinosaurs like me
there is something to be said
for the glorious imperfections
of scratchy old fashioned
manually adjusted
radio wave transmissions
