Roving spirits of the night

These wispy apparitions
I used to fear
back in the days

when I was deathly afraid
of things
I did not understand

So preoccupied was I
with my inevitable mortality

The whole finality deal
really spooked me

due to my mortal uncertainty

if there existed an afterlife

but now I see
there was no need to be
so meek and cowardly

For when I die
I shall return

in a fresh new form
to roam the Earth 
and join the legion
of floating ghosts

who once frightened me

Savoring a freedom I never had

when I was stuck here on Earth

I do so look forward to haunting you
