If Only

You blind me
with the pure
super nova brilliance
of your dazzling smile
that requires sun block

My challenge
is to capture that light
then bask
in the forever glow
as your devoted satellite

but how
to make this
high voltage connection
when my very presence
is but a minor blip
in your shiny existence?

If only there was a way
for me to unlock
the painful indifference
you convey
in my direction

If only
I flew with
the angel crowd

If only
I weren't so
constantly
blandly ordinary

Baggage Handlers

Onward we march

Struggling to push
this boulder
up this mountain steep

Weighed down are we
by repressed desires
we keep chained
and locked away

along with all
these suppressed urges
we know we can't act on

Buried unevenly
beneath layers
of denial restraints

Our unfiltered
subconscious
we release occasionally
under the guise
of imbibing chemically
because we need
an acceptable alibi
when we decide
to let the beast
of it's chain

Null and Void

Here we go

Round 43

Static crackling
on our tension wire
high above
surface serenity

Meanwhile
out in the for show world
nobody knows
the depth
of our underlying misery

They still believe
the whole fairy tale
bill of sale we were all sold

Pain payments accrued

Hurt gone delinquent
now way past due

Guess we were the last to know
tis now time
to close this horror show

So don't second guess
this mutual mess
and bitchfest yet again
about me missing
a spot or two

Cause the shadow
of your  black hole heart
forced me to paint
our broken scenario
in the dark

Cyberlutionary

When emotions run high
during these
tumultuous times

and the truth blows tenuous
in all directions

Beware the slick demagogue
spinning sinuous truth text bites

His message conveyed
with cunning visual persuasions

This master new wave
media manipulator

Feeding the masses
the sugary coated poison
that alters the course of history

Trending revolutionary

Hash tag #anarchy

The power of words
has never been
more prevalent

Graph Hoppers

After years
of swinging
from decorative trees
I have evolved
into something
quite different
from my original
point of origin

More like
dissolved
actually

Mutated gradually
into all
the conventional things
that I never dreamed
I would be

Is this my
prescribed fate
or simply
my current monotony
messing with me?

Is our course
reversible
or are we
locked in
to our
slotted destiny?

Living predictably

Such respectable
monkeys are we

The Chemical Solution

The pain
inherent in this life
we seek to side step
and avoid every day

eventually
burrows it's way
deep into
the core of our souls

the shell
of distractions
we throw
at our hurt
does nothing
but divert
our attentions
away from ugly truth

Tis the rocket fuel
of prescribed chemical lies

Under the counter medications
disbursed across the nation

The collective blood
now flows happy

Pharmacy zombies
tethered together

The conquest is complete

Defeating the grim realities

of life in the 21st Century

A Day In The Half Life

Battered and worn

We all die a little
every time
we enter sleep

Casualties of life's
daily wars

Many self created

Then come morn
we regenerate miraculously
and are reborn

Rise again we must
to walk the Earth
and interact
with our fellow zombies

Being the best mutants
we can possibly be
til erosion demands
we lay back down
and die again

Pondering Succession

When humanity ends
the charred remains
of history
will be buried deep
beneath the

rubble mountain
of our insanity

First dinosaurs crashed

Then man

Who moves up next?

What species temporarily
inherits this mess?

Natural domination
is anybody's guess

Here's hoping
they don't repeat
our mistakes

This planet
deserves better

Garden Products

Father Time
scattering the seeds
of history
over the barren landscape

of humanity

Relics to be studied
and analyzed
by those
who feel the need
to dredge up yesterday

We all contribute
to the grand tapestry
in our miniscule way

Centuries from now
when unborn
curiosity seekers
climb our family trees
they shall sum our existence
in a line or two

So take heed
my contemporary friends

We are the gardeners
of our destiny
and in the end

when all is said and done
the harvest we reap
defines us forever

Hope

Hope is

the rocket fuel of dreams

Uplifting our spirits
to galaxies of possibilities

That star in the distance
we are chasing perpetually
keeps us alive

So

if you bleed out hope
dreams will decline

Life stagnates
and you go flat line

Dark Dreams

I aspire to be
deep asleep

later tonight

At that time

I will dream
that I shall be
seriously intertwined
with a sultry feminine
vampire concubine
who will suck

my essence dry

She will liberate me
from my bleak mortality
and I will finally be free
to be a nightbird
flying for all eternity
above this oblivious world

Sadly,

Come morning I will awake
in sheets soaked sweaty
and be forced to rise
from my living coffin
to blankly resume what passes
for normal zombie activity

Bitter Breeze

I am divided

Torn

ripped

and split

Shredded by elements
I once controlled

The wind
which formerly
lifted my sails
and brought me here
has turned
into a relentless adversary

Now I fear
this faceless force
that will eventually
scatter my humanity
into the four corners
of oblivion

Too bad for me
the shelter
I need so desperately
is closed
for the season

Gotta hold on for dear life
til the storm passes by

Write Up Call

The crushing tedium
that suffocates
this life mundane
pales in comparison
to the deep darkness
of the grave

While we are in play
for our time allocated
in this drive through existence
we get to choose
from a very limited menu

So let's make the most
of this opportunity
to craft a best selling
auto biography
and blast through
the monotony
of the current stagnation

May as well
provide your mourners
with some amusing
small talk anecdotes
to kill the dead time
at your wake

In Lust We Thrust

As to her infidelities

I am blind deaf and dumb

for you see
I've got quite a few
shapely skeletons
under my bed too

Our tender
midnight whispers
of forever fidelity
ring as hollow
as our love

but shallow us

ruled by lust

will overlook
all indiscretions
for that burst
of mutual passion
we share
beneath
stained sheets

Love Cells

Why do we keep
doing the love thing
when we know
deep down
it invariably
leads to heartbreak?

It's like asking
why birds bother to sing

Tis what they
were born to do

Taking flight
the natural way

We fly

We crash

We die

We regenerate

Why?

Cause we can't help ourselves

Love is in our DNA

Permeating every cell

just waiting
for release someday

Rule Writers

If it feels good
it's probably illegal...

Definitely immoral...

As you will be
reprimanded constantly
by those
self proclaimed
paragons of virtue
vigilantly holding back
the tide of artificial sin
from their sea of hypocrisy

For you see
misery
not only loves company
it writes the rules
as it regulates
the dark clouds of guilt
and repression
that keep our natural needs
in ancient chains...

Disclaimer Me

If anyone reading this
should ever find me
wandering aimlessly
in this fog of indifference
take my clammy hand
and drop me off
at lost and found

Do not be deterred
by my temporary ingratitude

Tis just a phase

Someday
when I am
re engaged with the world
I will find you
and shower appreciation
in your direction

Perhaps I can even
return the favor
should you ever drift

Flotation Coping Device

From within
the midst
of this persistent storm
it seems
the relentless rain
will drown us all

and it will

if we let the tide
of rising adversity
immerse our resolve

Sometimes survival
is just a matter
of treading water
til the sun returns
to evaporate
our troubles away

Access Heaven

In the long queue
at the Pearly Gates
the apprehensive atheist
awaits judgement
for entrance consideration
to a place
he never believed in...

This rational creature
of little faith
could never grasp
the concept
of an after life
until now...

He fears his miscalculation
will lead to eternal damnation
but to his everlasting surprise
the Admissions Angel
stamps his
ticket to paradise
and lets him pass
because in life
he wasn't
such a bad guy...

Now true believers
may decry
why such a skeptic
would be allowed
into the heavenly congregation
but in the end
your placement depends
on the premise
that actions
speak louder than prayers
