Skipping The Slant

The lynch them first
ask questions later
flash mob
of micro public opinion
are polluting the stream
of social media consciousness again
with their unrelenting riled up ferocity

Quickly jumping to conclusions
that conveniently fit
an agenda ridden narrative

Their numbers swell rapidly
as hatred reposts virally
getting reported internationally
as contrived speculations
eventually mutate
into perceived fact

Til the value of truth itself
is reduced to a disposable commodity

Sold to the pliable masses
as fast cooked
easily digested
blended reality

  1. i think what used to be time spent reading other people's essays and longer philosophical sociopolitical narratives has now shifted dangerously toward mobile phones and social medias. your post captures the danger in the trend. Plato Aristotles Socrates Ovid Confucious Marcus Aurelius Shakespeare Wordsworth Ngugi Naipaul Woolf Sagan Einstein - how many useless hours would they have frittered away tweeting when they could have been creating the socionarratives we rely on today to keep our sanity? Oh. I forgot Ghandi MLK Lao-Tzu and the Buddha with his Samsung under the bodhi tree. - KatYa

    1. Not to sound like a cranky curmudgeon, but I believe somewhere along the way our schools stopped teaching students how to think... Way too much emphasis on useless memorization of regurgitated facts and almost zero attention to creative thinking. It's scary how robotically reactive our society has become
